Bug report? Please include: your device model, iOS version, the app version (Info → About), what you did, and what happened instead. A screenshot or a short screen recording usually saves a whole round of questions.
Frequently asked
The app doesn’t hear my guitar
First check microphone permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → CDEFGAB. Then move the device closer to the instrument, away from fans and traffic noise, and let the strings ring fully. Muted or very short notes are hard to analyse. You can always continue manually with the → button or Finish Gig.
Chord detection says “almost” but never passes
That means the app hears you but not the whole chord — usually one string is muted or buzzing. Watch the neck: the note that stays grey is the one that isn’t ringing. Re-check that finger, or press slightly closer to the fret.
I can’t hear anything
The speaker button on the main screen is the master sound switch. Also check the iOS silent switch and the volume. Inside the practice player, the Sound option controls step tones separately.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. The app works entirely offline and makes no network requests. The only thing that needs a connection is this website when you tap “User Guide”.
Do you collect any data?
No. There’s no account, no analytics and no third-party SDKs. Microphone audio is analysed on your device in real time and never recorded or sent anywhere. See the privacy policy.
Is it free? Will there be a subscription?
The app is currently free with everything unlocked. If optional paid features are introduced later, that will be described in the App Store release notes for that version.
Can I use it left-handed, or in an alternate tuning?
Yes to both. Left-handed mode mirrors the fretboard everywhere in the app, and you can set each string individually for drop, open and other alternate tunings — the rest of the app follows that tuning.
Does it work on bass and piano?
Yes. The Guitar / Bass / Keys switcher re-maps the current scale to that instrument. The theory is identical; only the layout changes.
How do I delete everything the app saved?
Delete the app from your device. All progress and settings are stored locally, so removing the app removes them.
Feature requests
Requests are genuinely welcome — a lot of what’s in the app started as an email. Tell us what you were trying to do and where the app got in the way; that’s far more useful than a feature name, because it usually leads to a better solution than the one either of us first imagined.
