CDEFGAB Music Toolkit (“the app”) · Last updated: 23 July 2026
Short version: the app collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. The app makes no network requests, so your data has nowhere to go — everything stays on your device.
Contents
1. Information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, store or process any personal data about you.
The app has no sign-up, no login and no user profiles. We operate no servers that the app talks to. We cannot identify you, contact you, or link any activity back to you, because no information about you ever reaches us.
2. Microphone
The app asks for microphone permission so that it can:
- detect the pitch of a played note in the tuner;
- check whether the chord you play sounds cleanly during chord lessons;
- grade the timing of exercises you perform.
Audio from the microphone is analysed in real time, in memory, on your device only. It is never recorded to a file, never stored, and never transmitted anywhere. Once a fragment of sound has been analysed it is discarded immediately. Only the derived result — for example “this note is 4 cents flat” or “this chord rang cleanly” — is used, and it stays on the device.
Microphone access is optional. If you decline it, every other part of the app keeps working, and the microphone-based steps can be completed manually. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
3. On-device storage
The app saves your settings and progress locally so it can remember where you left off. This includes things like your selected scales and tuning, practice plan and completed exercises, chord-course progress, and career progress.
This data is stored in the app’s own storage on your device. It is not synced to us or to any third party. Deleting the app removes it. Depending on your settings, an encrypted copy may be included in your personal iCloud or iTunes device backup — that backup is controlled by Apple and by you, not by us.
4. Notifications
The app can send local practice reminders, scheduled on the device itself. There is no push server and no remote notification service, so scheduling a reminder does not send anything off your device. Notifications are optional and can be turned off at any time in iOS Settings.
5. Network and third parties
The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking SDKs, and it uses no third-party libraries of any kind. It makes no network requests of its own and works fully offline.
The only time the internet is involved is when you tap a link — for example “User Guide” — which opens this website in your browser. Visiting a website is a normal web request handled by your browser; this site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub may process standard server request data such as IP addresses as part of serving the page. See GitHub’s privacy statement for details. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
6. Purchases
The app is currently free and contains no active in-app purchases. If purchases are introduced in a future version, they will be handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We would never see or receive your payment details — Apple only tells the app whether a purchase is active.
7. Children’s privacy
The app is safe for all ages: it collects no data, shows no advertising, and contains no social features, user-generated content or external content feeds. Because we collect nothing, we cannot knowingly or unknowingly collect information from children.
8. Your rights and choices
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights over personal data held about you — to access it, correct it, delete it, or object to its processing. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, export or erase.
You remain in full control of the data on your device:
| What you want | How to do it |
|---|---|
| Stop microphone use | iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → CDEFGAB |
| Stop reminders | iOS Settings → Notifications → CDEFGAB |
| Erase everything the app saved | Delete the app from your device |
9. Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts collecting data — for example if analytics or an account system were added — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the “last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will also be described in the App Store release notes.
10. Contact
